Network Infrastructure and Digital Connectivity at CPGSAS (CAU-I), Umiam
The Library, a learning hub of the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences came into existence since the inception of the College. The library building was inaugurated by the Hon,ble D.G. ICAR and Secretary, DARE, Govt. of India, Dr S. Ayappan, on the 4th May 2011.
Since its inception, the library has experienced rapid and consistent growth in its expansion and development efforts. It caters to the student community, faculty and staff registered with the College. It has a well furnished reading room, equipped with computers that facilitate both in-house and online activities.
The collection of the library which had started off with just 400 titles is enriched by its yearly addition of new books and information resources every year. Currently the library has a collection of 6481 books, subscribes to 16 Indian published journals, 616 M.Sc. theses, 93 PhD theses, it subscribes to popular magazines and important Newspapers. The library maintains back volumes of both Indian and International published journals earlier subscribed by the College.
Keeping pace with the use of e-resources, the users of the Library have access to various e-journals provided by ONOS, has access to around 151 e-books from publishers such as Wiley, Cambridge, CABI and ASAP Books. Students also have access to the Krishikosh database, a digital repository of theses, and other knowledge sources for agriculture and allied fields.
The library has a LAN setup with 12 terminals and is a wifi enabled zone. It is equipped with Koha ILS to facilitate all in house library activities. To explore the Library’s collection, the users can search through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) maintained and updated by the Library Staff. To ensure library users can access subscribed e-resources off campus, a Remote access facility is provided via RemotLog.
Library Rules and Regulation:
- Registered students, faculty, staffs of the College are members of the Library.
- On request and written approval of the competent authority, visitors or students, scholars and faculty of other institutes / colleges can avail the facility of the library for a short duration.
- Circulation of books is provided only to the registered users of the College. Thesis, Reference Books and Magazines are not for issue.
- Borrowing of books on another borrowers name is not allowed.
- Books are to be returned / renewed on or before the due date. A late fee fine of Rs. 1/- per book per day will be charged for books kept beyond the due date.
- Journals which are issued will have to be returned by the borrower the next working day at 10.00 AM sharp.
- A book borrowed from the Library may be renewed for a further period of 15 days by students, provided no other reader has reserved the same.
- The loan period may be shortened by the Librarian if a book/ books are on special demand.
- Entry in the Library Gate register is mandatory every time a user visits the library.
- Library users must not mutilate library materials by marking, underlining, removing pages or portions of pages, removing binding or in any other way damage or deface library materials.
- In case of loss of a book by the borrower he/she shall either replace the book or bear its cost. If the book of a multi volume set is damaged or lost the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay four times the cost of the same.
- The decorum of the Library is to be maintain at all times.

Reprography Rules:
- The library currently offers photocopying, printing facility (both colored and monochrome ) to all members on a no profit – no loss basis. Materials related to course of study or college activities are allowed to be photocopied or print.
- Photocopying of an entire book is not allowed. Partial photocopying of a few pages only will be allowed on permission.
- Formatting and editing work of any kind will not be carried out by the staff of the library.
