The School of Natural Resource Management (SNRM) was established in 2007 under the Division of Soil Science and Agronomy, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam. It began functioning as an independent academic unit in 2009 at the College of Post Graduate Studies (CPGSAS), Umiam. The school offers advanced research and academic programs, including Ph.D. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, and Ph.D. in Agronomy, both initiated in 2012. With a dedicated team of 9 faculty members and 4 non-teaching staff, the school focuses on sustainable management of natural resources, soil health, climate-resilient agricultural practices and soil water conservation for agro-ecosystems of north eastern hill region.

To emerge as a centre of excellence in sustainable natural resource management by advancing innovative research, education, and field-based solutions in soil science, agronomy, and soil & water conservation for resilient agro-ecosystems of the north eastern hilly region and beyond.
