Sub-Sub-Thematic Areas:
| SSTA-1 | Bioprospecting and utilization of regional crop germplasm, medicinal and aromatic plants, and underutilized crops. |
| SSTA-2 | Understanding genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying important traits like yield, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, nutrient use efficiency, grain quality and nutrition etc. for crop improvement. |
| SSTA-3 | Utilization of crop improvement strategies like introgression and forward breeding; mutagenesis; polyploidy etc. for improving traits of importance for NEH region and enhancing genetic gain in crop productivity and nutrition. |
| SSTA-4 | Production of quality seed/ planting material in crops of economic/nutritional relevance to NEHR |
Significant Achievements of the School during the period 2021-2026:
- Three HYV of rice released, namely CAU-R 105 (Khingrasong I), CAU-R 107 (Khingrasong II) and CAU-R 124 (Khingrasong III).
- During the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26, 55 M.Sc. Students and 15 PhD Students have passed out from the School of Crop Improvement.
- Eight Externally Funded Projects have been completed during the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 in the School of Crop Improvement.
- One faculty member deputed to ICRISAT, from 2022-2025
- Another Faculty member of SCI deputed as Dean, Post Graduate College, RPCAU, Samastipur, Bihar, during this period.
